Class Expectations and Procedures:
This course will strictly adhere to the State Standards. However, detours are to be expected and other material will be covered (depending on time constraints). Students are expected to utilize the side board for the weekly schedule and pick up any missed assignments. Students are to come to class prepared with paper and a writing utensil every day. Other materials may be required throughout the year, on these occasions the students will be given ample warning. Retention of the course material covered is expected. Parents and students can access current grades at: http://powerschool.hesperiausd.org/public/
Class Rules:
Violations of these rules will result in consequences. These include, but are certainly not limited to: 1) Warning, 2) Additional Work/Seat Change, 3) Demerit, 4) Phone Call Home and a trip to the office. I reserve the right to skip any of these consequences if I deem the infraction worthy. The class rules are as follows: (All School Rules are in effect as well)
Grading Rubric:
Your grade will be broken down in this way. Extra Credit will be assigned at the teacher’s discretion. To earn Extra Credit, the student must perform above and beyond reasonable expectations. Unexcused Late Work will be docked 50% and an additional 10% for each day it is late. Students will only be able to make up quizzes and tests if they have an excused absence. All grades are final.
Grade Breakdown:
35% = Tests and Essays
35% = Assignments and Homework
20% = Projects
10% = Participation Scale:
100%-90%---------------A
89.99%-80%-------------B
79.99%-70%-------------C
69.99%-60%-------------D
59.99% and lower --------F
No Exceptions will be made!
(You are all adults and therefore must take responsibility for your own actions.)
***THE “C” POLICY*** No student should fail this class. I have a policy that IF all assignments and tests are complete to the best of their ability, and the student attends class regularly with few absences, then they will receive a “C.” The “C” Policy can only takes effect IF ALL of this is done, and at that point, the student will not receive a grade lower than a “C.” Keep this in mind when grades come out.

- Be ready for class with your notebooks and in line, at attention, by the time the Bell Rings.
- All assignments are due when class begins.
- Use the “Student Supplies,” not the teacher’s supplies.
- Refer to the Course website and Class Calendar/Assignment List for Make-Up Work.
- Try your BEST at all times! (If you attend class, you are expected to work and participate. If this is a problem, I will be happy to show you the door.)

- Sit in your assigned seats, and if you need to move for any reason, raise your hand.
- Clean up after yourself; the teacher is not your maid.
- No food or drinks, except for water with a reseal-able lid.
- No complaining (this includes whining, crying, blubbering, grieving, groaning, lamenting, moaning, sniveling, sobbing, wailing, whimpering, etc.)! You earn your grade…
