Class Norms:
My classes are Project Based Learning, to that end, the following are a few of the norms and standards for my courses:
Knows and Need to Knows
This will be done at the beginning of projects. This is a chance for students to direct the class and decide what workshops need to be done. This will be done with the teachers direction and discretion. Students will tell the teacher what they already know about the content, and then they will tell the teacher what they think they will need to know to be successful for the project.
Critical Friends
Critical Friends is a chance for you to get feed back from your peers. This will happen at different times during a project depending on class needs but generally it will take place before the final presentation. Your peers will be attempting to answer these three questions:
1. What did they do right? (what was done well and deserves commendation?)
2. What can they improve on? (what needs to be fixed or clarified? What did not meet the project requirements?)
3. How can they bring this project to the next level? (is there anything they can do to make this more authentic? What can they do for extra credit?)
If possible, please give them what you think will be their grade based on the rubric for the project.

Their job is to also make sure the group has all of the materials they need to complete their work, as well as keeping the group workspace clean. This does not mean they are the maid, just that they need to direct their group mates to clean up after themselves.
